"Iam Agnes Mendoza of Marikina City. Yesterday, August 23,2009, I went to Monte Maria Shrine to hear mass. With me is my mom, my cousin, his wife and 2 year old son who suffers from mild cerebral palsy, fungal infection of the skin and the absence of sweat glands.
I asked my mom to give the picture of my nephew, Mikkel Benedict who suffers from Global Developmental Delay. He has undergone physical therapy and was able to walk but now needs speech therapy to be able to speak. At 2 and a years old, he has very limited vocabulary. He can speak only papa, cat, baba(down). Otherwise he would point at things and to himself if he wants something. It is as if we are constantly playing "charades." We need to understand his gestures.
When we arrived home, his "yaya" went on unscheduled day off. We asked him where his yaya went and he answered "nagdate" (she went on a date.)
He pointed to the cake that we have and said "cake." Then a plane flew overhead and he said "plane."
Today he asked for "milk."
The son of my cousin is in constant state of seizure which led to the stiffening of his joints. Just this afternoon, when they arrived from his scheduked physical therapy, they said that the therapist was surprised that the les has loosened up and he looks a lot better"
